Dental Debridement is Helpful in Boosting Your Oral Health

If you have had trouble keeping your oral health at optimum levels, you are not alone. Many people find it difficult to maintain dental visits on a regular basis. Also, some people did not have access to good dental care when they were growing up, and they are still paying the price for that. Some people also think that dental visits are too expensive, and so they don't go.
If you are one of those people who haven't visited us in a while, you are in luck. There are procedures that can help you have a cleaner, healthier mouth. One of those procedures is dental debridement. Not sure how dental debridement can help you? We have some suggestions.
Dental Debridement, the Power Cleaning
If it has been awhile since your last dental cleaning, you may have a lot of plaque and tartar in your mouth. These deposits may now be really thick and hard, which means you wouldn't be able to dislodge it normally. The deposits can even sit below the gumline, which can leave your gums open to infection.
When a debridement takes place, usually an ultrasonic tool is used to break up the plaque, which is then rinsed away with water jets. A tool may also be used to be sure that as much of the plaque is removed as possible. Your teeth can then be examined more easily, and even cleaned and polished.
You need to know that debridement may be a little more painful than a regular cleaning, because of the need to remove heavier deposits of plaque. You can have a discussion with us ahead of time if you have concerns about the procedure or if you are nervous about debridement in general.
Dental debridement may be a great way to get your mouth back on the road to great oral health. Why not give us a call today, and let us schedule an appointment for you?
