Teeth In A Day

Many elderly patients lose most or all of their teeth or suffer from severely compromised teeth due to various oral health factors. Now, you don’t have to go without teeth for days or even settle for traditional dentures and dental bridges. At Tualatin Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, we make it possible to have all your teeth replaced in a single day.

WHAT ARE TEETH IN A DAY?

Teeth in a Day dental implants effectively provide you with the function, stability, and aesthetics of natural teeth. Since these implants are permanent, you will not have to worry about taking them about and cleaning them in special ways. You will also never have to worry about your teeth falling out or decreased bone density in your jaw. Moreover, you will be able to enjoy eating all the foods you like, including steaks and apples.

Teeth in a Day treatment provides you with a full set of dental prosthetics with the support of four to six dental implants embedded into each of your upper and lower arches under sedation. These implants fuse to your jawbone in a process called osseointegration and provide additional stability. Unlike traditional implants, where you may have to wait about six months to complete your entire treatment, you can go home with a full set of temporary teeth on the same day.

Once the gum and jawbone have fully healed, which can take anywhere between 4 to 12 months depending on the health of your jaw and the technique used, Dr. Emerson Rowley, DMD will call you to replace your temporary teeth with permanent ones.

BENEFITS OF TEETH IN A DAY

People who have undergone the Teeth in a Day treatment sense an immediate improvement in the quality of life:

  • You will leave with a set of natural-looking teeth on the same day, which can boost self-confidence and self-esteem.
  • There is also no need to wear uncomfortable, removable dentures while you are waiting for your gums to heal.
  • The technique can help reduce or eliminate the need for bone grafts.
  • The treatment time frame is very short.
  • Success rate is very high and similar to conventional dental implant surgery.

LIMITATIONS OF TEETH IN A DAY

Teeth in a Day treatment may not be the ideal treatment for everybody, which is why Dr. Emerson Rowley, DMD will first carry out a careful oral examination and check your medical history beforehand.

POST-IMPLANT SURGERY CARE

Teeth in a Day is a significantly invasive surgical procedure. Once the anesthesia wears off, you will experience some pain and swelling for a few days. To manage it, we will prescribe you some antibiotics and pain killers. Additionally, once you are home, you should apply an ice pack to your jaw.

You should also observe good oral hygiene and rinse your mouth three times a day with an antibacterial mouthwash for three weeks. You can also make a saline rinse with warm water and salt and swish it in your mouth. Make sure the water is not too hot as your gums will be quite sensitive.

Although you will get teeth within 24 hours, it is important to avoid sticky and hard foods and stick to liquid or soft diet in the first few months after the surgery. This will allow time for the implants to fuse to your jaw and for your gums to heal. Biting down too hard with your newly-fitted implants can cause them to move, resulting in implant failure.

It is expected that you will experience some bleeding. If that happens, bite down on clean gauze for 15 minutes to stop the blood. However, if the bleeding does not stop for a long time, call us at (503) 878-7474 and schedule an appointment with us immediately. With proper home care and routine checkups at Tualatin Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, your new set of teeth will last for a very long time.
